HP's Autonomy deal another big leap forward

Finding the relevant data

Autonomy's mantra on their website best concludes what we've all known for a long, long time: "Human-friendly or unstructured information is not naturally found in the rows and columns of a database, but in documents, web pages, presentations, videos, phone conversations, emails and IMs". The web is changing and that is only good news for the enterprise.

HP's $7billion acquisition proves there is true value in structuring the 'un-structurable' in the form of the world wide web. Being able to find the *right* information and not all of the information. The business world is longing to make use of the vast amount of detail out there and just need a manageable way of actioning such insights.

As the online world sharpens up to it's true potential the unstructured melee that ensued before will gradually find it's feet as an organised system of on target data. It's not how much you know after all, it's what you know at time you need to know it.
